What to expect?

Before we enter into the sauna and feel the touch of löyly, a trained sauna healer (saunottaja) tells about Finnish sauna folklore and traditions. Why has it been important to greet the löyly with a song? What is the role of the sauna stove or kiuas - the altar of sauna? What is the role of vihtas (whisks from local trees)?

After this, you get to experience an ancient healing ritual called saunotus. Sauna is said to be the temple of the forest and vihtas play a big role in the sauna ritual. Saunotus is a multisensory experience that smells like a moss-covered forest. The ritual includes old rune songs and soft vihtas (whisks) from trees such as birch, maple and pine.
